TUCSON, Arizona – Just North of Tucson, Oro Valley is the best place in Arizona for cycling aficionados of any level to enjoy. There are over 80 miles of routes, paths, and signed routes. You can road bike the streets of Oro Valley, experiencing minimal traffic. . The 40-miler of El Tour de Tucson starts in Oro Valley, a clean, upscale community next to the Catalina Mountains and a premier American cycling destination. Oro Valley is the best area in Tucson – and Arizona for that matter – to start a biking vacation.
The Oro Valley/Tucson Loop shared-use bike path puts Tucson cycling in a class by itself with over 130 miles of paved cycling routes and trails that are wonderful for riders of all levels. The Loop system has not much more than a 1 percent grade.
If you are in Oro Valley, start your ride by parking at Catalina State Park and enjoy this
world class desert state park. Then leave the park and head out on the Oro Valley extension of The Loop. Catalina state park has minimal traffic is spectacular for casual riders to enjoy.
Oro Valley is hilly and offers elevation gain. Vistoso Boulevard is a short but idyllic ride.
