What The Bike Bandit Says…

“I have taken many of my European clients out here who appreciate the bast history that this area has. Yes, while it is just pure jeep road, the East Cochise Stronghold Trails are stunning and incredibly beautiful. Fun place to mountain bike that is about an hour from Tucson.”

TUCSON, Arizona – Mountain Biking – This ride is located in the Coronado National Forest east of Tucson. Frankly, it’s quite a drive from Tucson and it is completely on Jeep road. That being said, if you’re in the area and are itching to hear the crunch of gravel under your knobby tires, it is a very beautiful area. The road is VERY fast in spots, but that also means hard climbing in those same spots. You can get water at the Stronghold, it’s a nice historic area, and it is very pretty inside the canyon.

Directions: Interstate-10 to the Dragoon turn off, then 8-miles along that road to the parking spot, ride back up the road 1-mile, take a left on the jeep trail and head on up to the Stronghold. Though if you’d like to make it a shorter ride, drive farther up into the Canyon.
